Okay , so apparently when I speak to people about SkullAsstic Ink .. there is a slight confusion about what is heard when I pronounce it. I thought I spoke clearly and was told by a professor in college that I sometimes over enunciate. ( prolly too much infor for you, but I need fodder) Ok, so thinking that I sometimes over enunciate meant to me, that I was speaking really clear.
Anyhow, its not Scholastic pronounced (SKOL-astick ) as in the publishing company - though we are playing off the word and it did have a very very small part ... really the name sparked because as many of you know Melanie and I really love skulls and all things associated with them - yes, we even had them on our grooms cake!!!!
So, back in the day when we were just giving our SkullAsstic Ink stuff away mainly to the Preis Clan and of course we had to adorn our first little nephew with kick ass clothing - everything we made has Skulls on it ... It is apparently the only thing I was able to draw decently - a skull and cross bones. Big, little, small and crazy-eyed was the only way I was able to change it up. ( I'll blog on a later day about Designs- if you care? Do you ?)
So making all these little itty bitty clothes for our precious and styling babes was just getting out of Skulltroll ( its like control but with skulls - see what I like to do, is mix two words together .) There were pieces of of scratch paper with skulls drawn all over it .. With that said ....Melanie decided to do up a Skull shirt and it was super rad - the painting and color placement was outta this world ( ok that may be a bit big - but I thought it at the time) so it was so great I took a look at it and said ... Hey Babe, That's is SKULL'Ass-tic as in Skull-fantastic ! Get it SkullAsstic!
Some like to think that I'm a little spastic and that is how we got it .. though that may be a bit true and very suiting for me it has nothing to do with our name.
So SkullAsstic was born .. we added the ink part a year or so down the line because we were doing a line of greeting cards that featured skull graphics for many occasions and we thought Ink was appropriate and the name stuck.
