Fulfillment
Woo hoo! Orders are coming in and were busy as bees making hip, cool Rock’n infant and toddler clothes. As I said in yesterdays blog we have revamped our sparrow design and gave it a bit more depth and we also made black leggings with the most adorable Cherry Blossoms on them. Most of the things we are working on are custom designs, but we sneak in an item for our site here and there.
We have even ventured on to fulfilling a custom design for an Adult . That’s different. This Adult design features two tattoo inspired blue swallows, that are hand painted highlighted in blue and blue metallic on a womans hooded T. Its pretty RAD!
Every year we are invited to an awesome party in Sherman Oaks put on by the Gonzalez family. The party is a actually a benefit/charity event for a family in need. All the proceeds and donations will be given to this family for Christmas. So, we will be sending them some shirts and also having a photo booth at the party to take pictures of everyone all fancied up and all of the proceeds we make will be donated to this family. AWESOME.
OK gotta get creative and painting to fulfill our orders.
Have a SkullAsstic Day !

We have been Pinned and deemed entrepreneurs
My early rising has backfired. I woke at 5AM this morning with a headache (its a thing I have) finally fell back asleep and low and behold I just got up ...it's 10:03. YIKES.
Last night was a BIG night for us. We had our Women's Economic Venture graduation.
Women's Economic Ventures (WEV, pronounced "weave") is a local, non-profit organization dedicated to creating an equitable and just society through the economic empowerment of women across the globe.
WEV provides opportunities for entrepreneurs in every phase of the business lifecycle: start-up, launch, grow and sustain/exit.
Melanie and I graduated with honors. We were pinned with a WEV pin and received a certificate of completion of Self-Employment training signed by the CEO and founder. we also received a certificate of recognition from the California State Assembly signed by Assembly Member Pedro Nava.
We gave our "elevator speech " regarding SkullAsstic Ink and expo'd our designs. It was awesome! We had some great sales and received GREAT feedback!
We also spoke to two very awesome WEV board members whom we admire very much. Kathy Johnson, Attorney at Law and Simon Dixon the CEO of Idea Engineering We have known Kathy Johnson for sometime now and she is just an exquisite woman whom we find to be awe inspiring. Thank you Kathy for being Awesome! We would also like to thank Mr. Simon Dixon whom we met during one of our SET classes. He is an amazing speaker and evokes creativity and is also very inspiring. It's great to know GOOD people with Good energy.
While showing off our SkullAsstic Designs we had the pleasure of meeting Shelley Shoemaker owner of Cafe Shell formerly Barcliff & Bair who was looking for a SkullAsstic Ink item for her 10 month old Gianna and some of their friends. Shelly is a DreamWEVer donor to WEV. She was fantastic to talk to and had a wonderful energy about her! We also met Tony Anderson who was very insightful regarding Manufactures for us to contact. We enjoyed talking with all of you!
Thank you to all the wonderful people we have met through WEV and of course our class mates and WEV graduates as well that we have connected with. Jessica Wedmore of Lotus Blossom who creates the most amazing organic Albums, Journals and cards ever! Tori Murphy who is an super rocker that we love, she is working on opening up a Window and Solar Panel washing business. Shine on Chicky!!!! Kristin Anderson of Lime green Monkey who makes reusable, sustainable, organic hankies for children. Tony the best manager at Cafe Shell you are wonderful and we love the Crab Cake Benedict. Keep smiling Tony!!! Melanie and I look forward to working and meeting with all of you real soon!
We were so excited when we got home from our Graduation that we made some new
designs. We have created Cherry Blossom Leggings and a new improved swallow and we are working on more, but right now We better get going as we have a few orders to fill !!!
We hope everyone has a SkullAsstic Day !

TA- DA!
Morning Sleepy heads!
Today's blog woke me up at about 6AM ... though I am only now typing it up at 9AM. Yes, there is a bit of lag time allowed.
I was awaken by the "Oh I have to blog today ... what will it possibly be about?" I lay awake in a toasty bed thinking...hmm blog.. everyday...damn its cold out there...blogging what will I say.
Then I jumped out of bed ran downstairs and felt propelled to mail my Netflix movie and be out side this BRISK and cold morning.
I received an e-mail from a fan, whom is very helpful and supportive of SkullAsstic Ink. Her idea was Awesome. She proposed we send products to certain celebrities for specific shows. We love that idea too but the possibility of our product making it anywhere close to the target celebrity is very slim to none but, We have found that often sending sample items to celebs results in us clothing their Assistants and publicist's children. The only way for us to actually get SkullAsstic Ink clothing to celebs is if any of you know them personally. Do you know a celebrity whom you think will dig our stuff. Let us know. Thank you MG in Sherman Oaks and Great Idea! Keep em coming!
If you are a fan like MG or a supporter of SkullAsstic Ink you can help us by promoting our site or you can write about us on your favorite blog or parenting sites and recommend us. With that said, We heard from a few fans that have told us they did in fact write reviews about SkullAsstic Ink on SBParent.com and
we went to search for the reviews and it seems the did not post them . I know, I know we are not happy about this either but we are not sure if or what to do to get them to publish it. (Ok so I just called them and left a message.) We also heard from a fan that she left a comment on hotmomsclub and we found it. Here is what she says
Please SkullAsstic FAN-tasstics, send us photos of your little human people decked out in SkullAsstic Ink Clothing.
We decided to pick an item and showcase it once a week. We were going to call it Coolsie of the week but did not want to limit our selection to just Coolsies. It will be SkullAsstic of the week and we will feature one item on our blog and tell you all about it.
Our Feature for this week is Copper Pink Swallow
this short sleeve coolsie is hand dyed charcoal grey with a tattoo inspired metallic copper pink/red Swallow, it is embellished with copper stars and copper splashes. Its 100% cotton hand painted. its size 0-3 months. Its available for order for $24.99 and is one of a kind. It will ship next business day.
The reason it is this weeks favorite. Well, J thinks,
Melanie say is her favorites because,
Alrighty FAN-tasstic people we love you and hope you have a SkullAsstic Day !

I am a new Aunt and have a new very little niece. She is adorable. I was searching high and low for cute but not overly baby clothing. I'm kinda a rocker girl and I wanted something that was unique and had spunk. It was also next to impossible to find anything other than PINK AND BLUE !Thank you all for getting the SKullAsstic Ink word out.
I did not think babies could sport a skull and crossbones look but it is was so me, it will look super cute on her. I wanted her to have a part of me and be inspired by me at least.!! It is very soft the Skull was not overly Baby-ish nor was it aggro it was perfect. If you have a potential little rocker in your life or just a little baby and are bored stiff with the same baby clothes shenanigans check them out. -Lorr

Good Things
Well, Good morning .. a bit chilly for everyone I do believe. Can't remember when So Cal got to be so cold, nothing a warm cup o joe or mint tea can't fix and ok ok ok ... WARM SOCKS!
Things are looking bright for SKullAsstic Ink. Our contacts from the weekend Craft/trunk show loved yesterdays blog and said we ROCK ! Thank you ! I never know what to call them craft fair, craft show, trunk show ... someone fill me in ? Is there a difference?
Melanie took some SkullAsstic Ink merchandise over to her friends house and in 1 hour made 2 sales- Way to go -net work mama! Thanks Piper and Christina for shopping local and staying true to independent designers! By the by if you live in the Santa Barbara area Piper is the best WAXER should you need your eyebrows or bikini done give her a call at 805-252-3394.
We have completed some new designs that we are very excited to showcase. Promise photos soon - well they will be on-line in our store first. One is of a black crow on a branch its very emo-ish. Black on Black with burst of metallic color its a bit melancholy but adorable on babes and not so dark looking on either. Thank you, parents for letting us try things out on your children! We got a ton of great feedback on that design at the trunk show ( thats what were calling it). We also have some new T- shirts for babies with expanding necks that feature a SkullAsstic Ink Skull and NEON GREEN stars. Yes, folks we are bringing day glow back or trying .. its the cutest on littles and itty bits ( J's names for lil babies) We have florescent Pink and Green.... don't be scared they are just accent colors for now ... until something in our minds says go for it ! Perhaps we will have to experiment on the nephew!!
We dropped off our custom order to lucky sisters in Granada Hills and their mom was thrilled with the way they turned out, this is what she said,
We should be getting back to the drawing board (literally) and start making some NEW hot graphics and designs.
We are also preparing for our WOMENS ECONOMIC VENTURE (WEV) graduation tomorrow. Our business class will be over and we will receive a certificate and a WEV pin if we turn in our business plan, of course we are going to !!!!! Thank you Kathy Johnson who introduced us to WEV.
We have a ton to do .. better get started.
Lastly, if your interested in a custom order or any of our other designs make sure your order is in by December 19th to ensure you receive the item by Christmas!
Have a SkullAsstic Day !

Our Weekend!
Ok ok ok .. So today's blog is super late. Our reason is We almost DIED returning home from our trunk show. I'll keep it simple- We left this morning and were on the freeway it was raining and the jeep spun out and went all topsy turvey, regained control and alas we are safe! Thank Goodness.
Now back to The nitty gritty, Thank you to all who stopped by our booth at the Getto Gloss Art Craft and Vintage Flea Market on Sunday, December 14th. Despite the serious chillyness people came and visited and shopped. We got great compliments and met some super duper people and saw really dear friends whom we missed they came by to say hi and support us !!! Yes, Spike were blogging about you. Spike is owner and designer of X-Ray Vision . Spike embellishes lamps with your or your pets X-Rays or MRI scans and digital images. They are Rad and a cool way to pay homage to your pooch or your near death injury ! Our long lost friend VT also came to paroose and say hi ... We really missed you VT. Thank you all for stopping by!
We were so lucky to set up next to MEL who is rad and owns Entity creations. She is an awesome jewelry maker and a great vendor neighbor. She makes you laugh and is a great conversationalist who fancy's quadratic equations her and Jen the mad embroiderer rocked! So, SkullAsstic Fans if you are looking for a gift for yourself check her out on her etsy site under Entity Creations
Some other vendors that we think rocked were Aguivilla who have "De Todo Un poco" ( a bit of everything) Claudia and Sofia make awesome tote bags with skull fabric and other designs too. They also make cute dog clothes. They were equally awesome Vendor neighbors. There was this super cool SKULL Duo (its what we deemed them) Scott and Beth Berger who own and operate Skullduggery Lane. Awesome vendors who are purveyors of Necromantic Treasures. They sell all kind of Skull things and are working on creating a possible skull-co-operative because truth of the matter is everyone loves skulls. Some fancy some furry and some cutesy! We also enjoyed Nicole Bruckman an amazing artist who gets featured at Cannibal Flower a gallery our very own Melanie Rush has shown with.
We'r not sure if we will be at next weekends Art Craft and Vintage Flea Market show. We will keep you posted on that. Don't forget if you want a special something for Christmas from SkullAsstic Ink December 19th is the last day to order it.
Hope you all have a SkullAsstic DAY!

New Designs
Hey Ladies, Gentlemen, and little babes,Some of you know I was laid off from The Santa Barbara New-Press last week. Yes, a very Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah from Wendy McCaw!
So, now I have a lot of time on my hands, which is perfect for getting holiday orders out and creating NEW DESIGNS and fulfilling custom orders. With that said I was in a zone yesterday working on some new designs. Pictured to the left is our newest one-of-kind custom order. Its for the sweetest little girl in Chatsworth who has the cutest smile and the craziest curls you ever did see. She is truly SkullAsstic
This shirt is a 3T that is pre-printed with stars and stripes SkullAsstic Ink added one of our Black Skulls and then threw in a few of our own metallic purple and black stars! It looks awesome! I know, I know, we have a ton of girl stuff .. we are working on finding American Made sweatshop free quality boys shirts. They are a little tough to come by... with that said I did check our inventory and we do have two polos and after we finished up little Miss Curly's shirt I started working on a boys green and black striped 18-24 month shirt. It features three SkullAsstic Skulls and purple metallic stars. It will be uploaded to Skullasstic.com
We have heard from our fans (that would be you) that some of you posted reviews on sites such as SBParent, and Hot Moms Club and other places. I want to say THANK YOU for doing that We think its AWESOME ... and WE THINK YOUR AWESOME ! Keep Rockin' it !
Please send us photos of your adorable babes! We love to see them!
Well We hope you have a SkullAsstic Day !

How we got our SkullAsstic name
Okay , so apparently when I speak to people about SkullAsstic Ink .. there is a slight confusion about what is heard when I pronounce it. I thought I spoke clearly and was told by a professor in college that I sometimes over enunciate. ( prolly too much infor for you, but I need fodder) Ok, so thinking that I sometimes over enunciate meant to me, that I was speaking really clear.
Anyhow, its not Scholastic pronounced (SKOL-astick ) as in the publishing company - though we are playing off the word and it did have a very very small part ... really the name sparked because as many of you know Melanie and I really love skulls and all things associated with them - yes, we even had them on our grooms cake!!!!
So, back in the day when we were just giving our SkullAsstic Ink stuff away mainly to the Preis Clan and of course we had to adorn our first little nephew with kick ass clothing - everything we made has Skulls on it ... It is apparently the only thing I was able to draw decently - a skull and cross bones. Big, little, small and crazy-eyed was the only way I was able to change it up. ( I'll blog on a later day about Designs- if you care? Do you ?)
So making all these little itty bitty clothes for our precious and styling babes was just getting out of Skulltroll ( its like control but with skulls - see what I like to do, is mix two words together .) There were pieces of of scratch paper with skulls drawn all over it .. With that said ....Melanie decided to do up a Skull shirt and it was super rad - the painting and color placement was outta this world ( ok that may be a bit big - but I thought it at the time) so it was so great I took a look at it and said ... Hey Babe, That's is SKULL'Ass-tic as in Skull-fantastic ! Get it SkullAsstic!
Some like to think that I'm a little spastic and that is how we got it .. though that may be a bit true and very suiting for me it has nothing to do with our name.
So SkullAsstic was born .. we added the ink part a year or so down the line because we were doing a line of greeting cards that featured skull graphics for many occasions and we thought Ink was appropriate and the name stuck.

On Friday, December 5th 2008 SkullAsstic Ink was in the ARAMARK Craft Fair. A craft fair that the employees put on . We were skeptical of how we would be received by corporate America seeing as our stuff is not so conservative but rather a bit RADICAL!
However, to our surprise the people at ARAMARK were amazing. Their feedback was great and many of them did buy SkullAsstic Ink Clothing for their lil' ones- or someones lil' one. Oh how Lucky those lil ones are to be clad in something that is Skullasstic !
Our efforts were not all entirely about SELL SELL SELL . The Aramark employee Craft fair raised a total of $620.57 for charity and This amount will be matched by ARAMARK , so they had a total of $1241.50 charitable dollars. A portion of this money will be donated to Salvation Army, L.A Union Mission and to Cynndy Elwood and employee of ARAMARK who lost everything in the recent Sylmar Sayer fire. How is that for some KICK ASS GOODNESS.
Way to go ARAMARK and Thank you for letting us participate in KICK ASS GOODNESS!
