ok ok .. Skullasstic Ink has fond its way on to twitter and we LOVE IT ! Actually love it so much that we find ourselves glued to teh computer .. we should be blogging and should be drawing and should be selling but somehow when Jay sits at the computer and logs on to twitter .... We are back

Sorry for the major lag ....We were planning on moving (still are) but it did not happen as fast as we thought and it wont happen till May.

We have been pretty busy though.

We have launched some of our ROCK'N and ROLL baby clothes on Etsy check it out here: SKULLASSTIC on ETSY

We also have been working on our inventory and realize we fall short for our lil boys. We will be working on getting some more boys stuff and out camo lead fell thought so we are looking for a new one.

Skullasstic Ink has also helped support a great cause and a ROCK'N little boy names Skyler. We donated to the Walk Now For Autism 2009 and supported TEAM SKYLER! ROCK ON LIL BUDDY!


We also checked out the Baby and Tween Celebration L.A. at the LA convention Center. It was great we were able to network and see what other vendors have. Though there are people with similar designs everyone seems to be screen printing ro silk screening. We are going to continue to hang paint and create unique designs that are one of a kind.

I know we totally lag .. We were both super duper SICK ! Ugg.. now that we are free and clear from Illness we are back in action.

Melanie was up late last night in the studio making new designs and hand dying some onesies black and charcoal grey!

We finally were able to source CAMO ONSIES ! We are very happy about this and will so be purchasing about one hundred items such as onsies , baby tees and jumpers.

That crazy law that was going to prevent us from making rad clothes for your kids is in effect however, they will not be enforcing it until next year! Good news, the paint we use since its paint has already met the requirements as all paint has to meet certain expectations !

We just did a custom design from some Florida Cuties! Nothing cuter than two sisters wearing matching shirts - though their shirts share the same design the painting is entirely different ! Here is one of them. We really love the Rock and Roll Style Peace and Love.

We just got a huge shipment of shirts, onsies and pants so we will be designing and painting up a storm! Stay tuned for upcoming styles. Its been rainy and gloomy here. We love it and it is awe inspiring to draw something up. Like we've said in previous blogs we are trying to come up with a baby punk-punk baby look. We are just not sure how to do it .. We need to collaborate and bounce ideas off some friends.

We watched the Grammy's for inspiration and we were not so impressed with this years show! It was a big let down.

Nothing super special about today's blog except we are working on New Designs and we are very excited that Jay got a silk screening kit for her Birthday! Not to worry, we will still make one of a kinds designs and only mass market a few images both will be noted on our web site www.skullasstic.com

Rock and Roll Desigsn of the week

It's raining in Santa Barbara ! Rainy days are great for drawing and getting new ideas!

With that said our design of the week is an Awesome Rock and Roll tattoo inspired Swallow. It is the sweetest on lil' girls but when done in primary colors the boys can Rock it too!
This is truly a timeless design. Melanie loves this one in particular because it was her brain child and as she creates it she tends to change the swallow up and she loves the color combination she chooses to create its flight. Jay loves this one because the swallow represents so much. It is a vintage icon and represents Peace, nature and beauty, all that and it can still be a Rock and Roll Baby design.

ROCK and ROLL Baby Clothes!!!

Okay folks,

The blog is tough... everyday trying to throw out a few words. We are much more creative when it comes to making clothes and it is slightly tougher for us to talk about ourselves. We are modest what can we say!

We are looking for models to be adorned with our SkullAsstic Ink designs.

We just love newborns in our stuff. A bold rad Rock and Roll baby design on a brand new Baby ! There is something about the proportion of our Rock and Roll Baby designs and the size of A Newbie that just excites us.

February Already !

Hey ...

Boy time does fly .. and we have 6 more weeks of winter!

Sorry for the DELAY. We got all worked up over the New Regulations from the CPSIA. So here is whats happening now... basically the government is giving us extra time and re-checking their law. So, they are giving the new law a time-out. YAY! Things are still to be determined!

Ok enough about that ... Lets get on with some Rock N Roll Kids clothes.

We have been working on some customize designs. For some cute Kids in Brazil! They w will look oh so cool when they are clad in Skullasstic Ink designs.

We have come up with a new YOGA BABY inspired design. We have created a beautiful Lotus Blossom usually painted in bold and vivid colors. It looks so sweet and precious on lil baby girls and tots.

We have been toying with some EMO designs and we have come up with them but it just would not be Skullasstic if we did not add bursts of color. The bird design has a bit of its EMO sadness but it also has taken on a Tattoo Rock and Roll baby style.

Yay and Ack!

We have some good news and some not so good news.

We have a new Inaugural design. It's pretty cool. This is also our design of the week. I love it because it has stripes and I love stripes and its Red and White, somewhat patriotic and yet still punk baby.

Melanie loves this because its just adorable and she loves how the black skull pops on this particular print, and Thank goodness it was purchased by a lil doll face girl who LOVES our 44TH President Barack Obama.



O.K. and now for the not so good news. It has come to our attention that the Consumer Products Safety Improvement Act(CPSIA) will shut down small business and local artisan who make clothing and toys for children under 12 years of age.

The CPSIA has new requirements of Manufacturers, importers and retailers. We are expected to comply with the new Congressionally-mandated laws. Beginning February 10, 2009, children’s products cannot be sold if they contain more than 600 parts per million (ppm) total lead. Certain children’s products manufactured on or after February 10, 2009 cannot be sold if they contain more than 0.1% of certain specific phthalates or if they fail to meet new mandatory standards for toys.

How you can help us and other small business: As much as we want our children to be safe and welcome such guidelines we feel the CPSIA has come down too hard which will force small companies and mom and pop shops and artist around the world to be put out of business. Even some larger chain and commercial companies said they might not be able to compete with the new requirements.

Your congress person and senators and write a letter like the sample here.
Particularly if they serve on the House Subcommittee on Commerce, Trade and Consumer Protection or the House Committee on Small Business.

NEW DAY , NEW BEGINNINGS

Hello , hello beautiful people!

Sorry we lapsed we are on the road to recovery and were just GLUED to our TELEVISION watching the 44th Presidential Inauguration. IT WAS AMAZING and breathtaking and just an overwhelming day! It has inspired us to get moving and get creative. We are not so sure about the RED, WHITE and BLUE but we just might have to make a shirt that is Presidential inspired.

We will be posting some new designs this week. Again, sorry for the lag we have been doing behind the scene stuff.

Staying Afloat

Hi,

This flue bug is gruesome! We hope everyone who is not feeling well gets better.
Including ourselves. We have not been doing much in the way of designing. Drinking lots of fluids and resting yes, but not designing!

However, despite our sickness and flu we are so excited for tomorrows Inauguration!
Woo - hoo! Melanie and I also made a pledge to not participate in this recession. We are doing this buy purchasing items we want especially indie items and local items! Please help out we as a country can BEAT THIS RECESSION!

Sorry, this blog is a little late. We are super busy putting together orders. Some lucky kids in Brazil will be super surprised when they get their SkullAsstic Ink Clothing.

This design is timeless and though the design is the same on all our items the way we paint and embellish it truly makes each shirt ONE OF A KIND.

We have our Water Back !!!!! Thank goodness we are back in production.

First we want to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to one of our groupies from all of us at SkullAsstic Ink we would like to wish Jody a Smashing Birthday and many more !

O.K. So the moment you have all been waiting for our designs of the week. This weeks pick was tougher than usual, we think its due to our constant creative bug and striving to do better, do cooler, and make it ROCK!

Melanie loves this shirt because she is the original creator/designer of it but she also likes it because it's a fun design with bold stripes and rad colors.

Jay loves this design because it can suits a Rock and Roll Baby look or Pirate shirt look your child might want but yet it's a Polo and we love little boys in polos.

Technical Dificulties

Hi Hi and Hi ....

Today we are a bit shut down as we just found out our water will be off for most of the day. Paint left on brushes is no BUENO ! So today will be a slower production day, but that's OK by us as we will just have to draw all day ... and take care of business.


We just received an awesome card in the mail yesterday from a fan in Oakland, CA! We did a very custom job for this family as a Christmas gift/gag! Here is what she had to say,

We are settled in this new Year

Boy Holidays are tough to recoup from. Now that most are back to work and/or school things seem to be settling down, but not for us. We are looking for trunk shows to show at and we are in our creative ZONE making SkullAsstic Ink shirts like mad women. We have lots of Rock and Roll custom orders so we are very busy!

WE LOVE IT

So, we are so busy creating and designing. We pretty much are consumed by this all for our customers. While we were in our brain storm session we decided we want to hear from our groupies. We want to know what colors and things you dig so we can design away for you. After all its you who keeps us going.

So we are blasting Rock and Roll music in our studio and drawing, cramming and storming on what to do next. You certainly cant make Rock and Roll Baby Clothes listening to Barry Manilow... but we like him too !

So we are trying to channel old school tattoo designs and some awesome 80's punk baby clothes. Guess we should blast some Ramones!

Hi Ya Fans,

We hope you had a wonderful New Year and for most of you Moms and Dads you have had some time with your children or were on vacation your selves. So, for most of us we must return to the salt minds.

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2009 ! Our time to shine

Hey Hey Hey !!!

Hope you all had a wonderful New Year! We are very excited to bring in the New Year with some sales!

SkullAsstic Ink was celebrating all the holidays and enjoying time with family and great friends and more importantly lil tots and tot-etts!

Starting on Monday, January 5th we will once again feature our design of the week.
